Terms of Service
1. Acceptance
By installing or using the Tota Chrome extension (“Tota,” “we,” “us”), you agree to these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree, do not install or use Tota. Access is currently by invitation only and is granted exclusively by us.
2. What Tota Does
Tota is a Chrome extension that adds text-to-speech, speech-to-text, and personalized language learning features to claude.ai. Tota is an independent tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Anthropic, PBC.
3. Eligibility
Because Tota operates within claude.ai, you must hold a valid Claude.ai account and meet Anthropic’s minimum age requirement (currently 18 years old) to use Tota. By using Tota, you represent that you satisfy these requirements and that your use of claude.ai complies with Anthropic’s Terms of Service.
4. License
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Tota solely for your personal, non-commercial language learning purposes. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, sublicense, or reverse-engineer any part of Tota.
5. Access and Invitations
Access to Tota is currently invite-only and controlled exclusively by us. We may grant or revoke access at any time, for any reason, without notice.
6. No Warranties
Tota is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that Tota will be error-free, uninterrupted, or compatible with all systems or configurations.
You acknowledge that Tota is an experimental, pre-release product provided at no charge by an individual developer, and you assume all risk associated with its use.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Tota and its operator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of or inability to use Tota, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Because Tota is provided free of charge, our total liability for any claim arising under these Terms shall not exceed zero dollars ($0.00).
8. Third-Party Services
Tota relies on the following third-party services to function:
- Anthropic / claude.ai — the platform Tota operates within
- Google Cloud Text-to-Speech — for audio playback of text
- Groq — for voice transcription
Your use of those services is governed by their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for their availability, accuracy, content, or conduct.
9. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use Tota to:
- Violate any applicable law or regulation
- Infringe any third-party intellectual property or other rights
- Circumvent or attempt to circumvent monthly usage limits
- Interfere with the operation or security of Tota or any related service
We reserve the right to terminate your access immediately for any violation of these terms.
10. Intellectual Property
All rights, title, and interest in and to Tota, including its code, design, and content, are and remain the property of the Tota operator. These Terms do not transfer any ownership rights to you.
11. Privacy
Your use of Tota is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using Tota, you agree to the data practices described in the Privacy Policy.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms at any time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this document and notify users via the Chrome Web Store listing or the extension itself for material changes. Continued use of Tota after any update constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict of law principles.
